چکیده

We present a formal geometric framework for the study of adiabatic quantum mechanics arbitrary finite-dimensional non-degenerate Hamiltonians. This generalizes earlier holonomy interpretations phase to non-cyclic states appearing non-Hermitian start with an investigation space operators on state space. then show how energy bands Hamiltonian family form covering Likewise, we that eigenrays bundle, generalization principal which admits natural connection yielding (generalized) phase. bundle provides in addition tensor and derived tensors, it can incorporate non-geometric dynamical as well. finish by demonstrating be recast so both phases permutations eigenstates expressed simultaneously means standard theory.

Complex magnetic monopoles, geometric phases and quantum evolution in vicinity of diabolic and exceptional points

We consider the geometric phase and quantum tunneling in vicinity of diabolic and exceptional points. We show that the geometric phase associated with the degeneracy points is defined by the flux of complex magnetic monopole. In weakcoupling limit the leading contribution to the real part of geometric phase is given by the flux of the Dirac monopole plus quadrupole term, and the expansion for i...

Gauge fields, geometric phases, and quantum adiabatic pumps.

Quantum adiabatic pumping of charge and spin between two reservoirs (leads) has recently been demonstrated in nanoscale electronic devices. Pumping occurs when system parameters are varied in a cyclic manner and sufficiently slowly that the quantum system always remains in its ground state. We show that quantum pumping has a natural geometric representation in terms of gauge fields (both Abelia...

Monodromy and geometric phases in classical and quantum mechanics

Stuart Althorpe Geometric phase effects in reaction dynamics If a reaction path follows a closed loop that encircles a conical intersection (electronic degeneracy), then the path will acquire a geometric phase. This talk will describe recent work aimed at finding out what (if any) is the effect of this phase on the mechanism and rate of a chemical reaction. First, we discuss systems in which th...

Exceptional points in quantum and classical dynamics

We notice that, when a quantum system involves exceptional points, i.e. the special values of parameters where the Hamiltonian loses its self-adjointness and acquires the Jordan block structure, the corresponding classical system also exhibits a singular behaviour associated with restructuring of classical trajectories. The system with the crypto-Hermitian Hamiltonian H = (p + z)/2 − igz and hy...
